Cold brew coffee’s story is one of patience and craftsmanship, tracing back to the 17th century. As coffee was introduced to Japan by Dutch merchants, the Japanese developed their own cold extraction method, refining it into what is now known as Kyoto style cold brew, a slow drip process that produces a smooth and delicate flavor.
Centuries later, in 1840s New Orleans, coffee makers developed their own method, steeping coarsely ground beans in cold water to create a bold, refreshing alternative to hot coffee in the Southern heat.
