Congo Mapendo
Mapendo, swahili for “love,” is farmed by a cooperative whose membership is diverse and nearly 40% of which are women. Mapendo is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the South Kivu province. This flavorful coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,680-2,000 masl and is certified FTO (Fair Trade Organic).
Our coffees are directly sourced from our coffee co-op partners to provided sustainable practices and economic support for small family farmers throughout Central America. These coffees are custom roasted in small batches using renewable electric convection roasters. This roasting technology preserves the clean flavors and quality of these amazing coffees without the charred and burned flavor that is associated with gas-fired drum roasting.
